Dr Ergad Gold
Ergad Gold is a Principal and Executive Director of the Momentum venture capital group. Momentum manages the $30 million venture capital fund, Momentum Ventures Unit Trust which was one of the first funds licensed by the Federal Government under its Innovation Investment Fund program. Momentum makes equity investments in Australian ventures which are At the seed, start-up or early expansion stage of development. Ergad is a technologist with many years experience in product development and commercialization spanning a wide range of technologies. He has worked extensively in industry, government and academia and for six years operated his own consulting practice specialising in technology and its management.
From 1987-1990, Ergad was a Policy Adviser to the Australian Government's Minister for Industry, Technology and Commerce, Senator John Button, with responsibility for the IT, aerospace, pharmaceutical and other industries. Between 1973-1987, Ergad was a Senior Lecturer in Applied Physics at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with extensive experience in acoustics, IT and electronics. Between 1991-1995, he was a member of the Federal Government’s Industry Research and Development Board which provides grants and tax concessions to companies undertaking R&D. Ergad holds a PhD and BSc (Hons) degrees from Melbourne University. Ergad is currently on the Board of companies within the Momentum portfolio, is on the Board of the Cooperative Research Centre for Polymers and is a member of the Commercialisation Committee of the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health.
